A partnership between noted restaurateurs Jay Singh and Sanjay Mahtani, the JSM portfolio includes a repertoire of some of India’s most successful and well known independent restaurants. The group has brought international restaurant brands such as Hard Rock Cafe to the country to offer music lovers a unique destination where music meets its connoisseurs.
Rewind.1996, Bangalore, 4am. Jay Singh meets Sanjay Mahtani at Sanjay’s house after having crashed his party. Their first exchange involved the lines “Who the hell are you?” and“Glad you’re having a good time.” Since that fateful night (or morning), Jay and Sanjay remained in touch; both passionate about the F&B space, both having returned to India after spending a considerable amount of time abroad and both excited by the energy and opportunity India had to offer. In 1998 Jay Singh opened 180 Proof and in 2002 Sanjay launched F Bar in Bangalore; post this Jay took the F Bar brand to Delhi. Around 2005 when the Hard Rock India rights became available, the duo decided, over a five minute phone call to become partners and here was born JSM.
Fast forward. 2015, Bombay, JSM corporate office. Eight brands, 29 outlets and countless experiences under their belt; JSM is standing strong and is now a force to be reckoned with in the F&B space in India (and soon internationally). Having developed the Hard Rock brand to six cities across India, JSM now operates some of India’s favourite brands such as Shiro, California Pizza Kitchen, Asilo and The Big Kahuna.
